  • Short Project Description

The project focuses on investing in an energy- and resource-efficient business model through energy renovation of the company’s operations, increased use of renewable energy sources, and the introduction of resource efficiency throughout the production cycle and product lifecycle. This includes ensuring sustainable sourcing of primary and secondary raw materials. The project “Transition of Oplate Šitum to an Energy- and Resource-Efficient Economy” encompasses the construction of a photovoltaic power plant, installation of a heat pump system, and procurement of energy-efficient equipment to reduce energy consumption, increase the use of renewable energy, and improve the environmental sustainability of production processes. The implementation of these investments will result in a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, an increased share of secondary raw materials, and near energy independence, thereby directly contributing to the green transition and circular economy objectives.

  • Project Implementation Period

The project is implemented from 1 October 2023 to 31 January 2026.

  • Overall Project Objective

To support productive investments by SMEs in energy-intensive industries, with the aim of achieving a more energy- and resource-efficient economy by promoting circular economy principles. This includes improving resource efficiency across production and product lifecycles, ensuring sustainable sourcing of materials, increasing the use of renewable energy sources, and reducing emissions.

  • Project Purpose (Specific Objectives)

  1. To align Oplate Šitum with current and future environmental requirements through investments supporting the company’s green transition (including the installation of additional renewable energy capacity of 0.05 MW).
  2. To support the company’s transition towards sustainable operations by reducing negative environmental impacts, increasing production sustainability, preserving existing jobs, and strengthening local and regional competitiveness. (Share of renewable energy in total final energy consumption: 78.195 MWh/year, Annual savings in primary energy consumption: 161.48644 MWh/year, Annual reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: 34.48778 tCO₂, Share of secondary (recycled/reused) raw materials: 50%, Job creation: 10 new positions) 

  • Expected Project Results

The project is expected to increase the company’s energy and resource efficiency through the use of renewable energy sources, reduce CO₂ emissions, minimize production waste, strengthen production capacities, and create new jobs.

  • Total project value: 712.988,86 EUR

  • Total eligible costs: 277.658,05EUR

  • EU co-financing: 202.884,94EUR
